1. Galactic Cannibalism

Galactic cannibalism refers to the process by which a large galaxy, through tidal gravitational interactions with a companion, merges with that companion, resulting in a larger, often irregular galaxy. The most common result of the gravitational merger between two or more galaxies is an irregular galaxy, although elliptical galaxies may also result. This is scary because Earth isn't safe from this and The Andromeda–Milky Way collision is a galactic collision predicted to occur in about 4 billion years between the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way Galaxy.

2. Hypervelocity Star

"Shooting Stars" in the real sense, Hypervelocity stars are stars with velocities that are substantially different from that expected for a star belonging to the normal distribution of stars in a galaxy. Ordinary stars in the Milky Way have velocities on the order of 100 km/s, whereas hypervelocity stars, have velocities on the order of 1000 km/s (the fastest ever recorded being 12,000 km/s).

It is believed that about 1000 HVSs exist in the Milky Way. Considering that there are around 100 billion stars in the Milky Way, this is a minuscule fraction (~0.000001%). But if one of these rogue, unbound HVSs were heading our way, it would weak havoc on everything in our solar system and there would be absolutely no way stop it.

Gamma-ray bursts are flashes of gamma rays associated with extremely energetic explosions that have been observed in distant galaxies. They are the brightest electromagnetic events known to occur in the universe. Bursts can last from ten milliseconds to several hours. The initial burst is usually followed by a longer-lived "afterglow" emitted at longer wavelengths (X-ray, ultraviolet, optical, infrared, microwave and radio).

If a gamma-ray burst exploded within the Milky Way, it could wreak extraordinary havoc if it were pointed directly at Earth, even from thousands of light-years away. Although gamma rays would not penetrate Earth's atmosphere well enough to burn the ground, they would chemically damage the atmosphere, depleting the ozone layer that protects the planet from damaging ultraviolet rays that could trigger mass extinctions.

If a more stable vacuum state were able to arise, then existing particles and forces would no longer arise as they do in the universe's present state.

5. Antimatter

In particle physics, Antimatière is material composed of antiparticles, which have the same mass as particles of ordinary matter but opposite charges, as well as other particle properties such as lepton and baryon numbers and quantum spin. So in principle, none of us should exist. But we do. And as far as physicists can tell, it’s only because, in the end, there was one extra matter particle for every billion matter-antimatter pairs.

6. Dark Energy

The probable existence of dark energy is scary because 68.3% of the universe is filled with something.. We can't even detect.

7. Supernovae and Hypernovae

A Supernova is a rare astronomical event that occurs during the last stellar evolutionary stages of a massive star's life, whose dramatic and catastrophic destruction is marked by one final titanic explosion.

A Hypernova is a type of star explosion with an energy substantially higher than that of standard supernovae. An alternative term for most hypernova is "superluminous supernova" (SLSN). Such explosions are thought to be the origin of long-duration gamma-ray bursts.

Needless to say, these two phenomena are incredibly scary just because of how much energy they can release. Quasars and Gamma Ray Bursts usually occur only in one direction, but these babies will vaporize you irrespective of how you're facing the explosion.

8. Black Holes

And now we come to the most widely known, and everybody's favourite phenomena in the universe. A Trou noir is a geometrically defined region of spacetime exhibiting such strong gravitational effects that nothing—including particles and electromagnetic radiation such as light—can escape from inside it.

There are mainly three types of black holes.

  1. Stellaire black holes form when a massive star collapses.
  2. Supermassive black holes, which can have a mass equivalent to billions of suns, likely exist in the centers of most galaxies, including our own. We don't know exactly how supermassive black holes form, but it's likely that they're a byproduct of galaxy formation. Because of their location in the centers of galaxies, close to many tightly packed stars and gas clouds, supermassive black holes continue to grow on a steady diet of matter.
  3. No one has ever discovered a miniature black hole, which would have a mass much smaller than that of our Sun. But it's possible that miniature black holes could have formed shortly after the "Big Bang," which is thought to have started the universe 13.7 billion years ago. Very early in the life of the universe the rapid expansion of some matter might have compressed slower-moving matter enough to contract into black holes.

Scientists also theorize the existence of "Rogue" black holes that wander about the galaxy undetected. What to black holes do? They rip up anything that comes into their path and feed on them to become even bigger. Nothing - not even gigantic stars or even other black holes - can escape them. Yikes.

9. Huge Large Quasar Group

This is a Quasar. It is one of the most powerful phenomena in the universe. Quasars usually only occur at the centre of a supermassif black hole. Now imagine 73 of these bad boys all in one place. That's what the Huge-LQG is made up of. The diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy is estimated to be between 31-55 kiloparsecs.

Based on the Cosmological Principle and the modern theory of cosmology, calculations suggest that astrophysicists should not be able to find a structure larger than 370 Mpc (Megaparsecs). The LQG however has a typical dimension of 500 Mpc. But because it is elongated, its longest dimension is 1200 Mpc (or 4 billion light years) - some 1600 times larger than the distance from the Milky Way to Andromeda. This is amazing because it's quite simply HUGE, and scary because its very existence breaks the laws of the universe that we have come to accept.

10. Magnetars

A Magnétar is a type of neutron star with an extremely powerful magnetic field. The magnetic field decay powers the emission of high-energy electromagnetic radiation, particularly X-rays and gamma rays. How strong is the magnetic field on a magnetar, you ask?

Magnetars are characterized by their extremely powerful magnetic fields of [math]10^8[/math] to [math]10^{11}[/math] tesla. These magnetic fields are hundreds of millions of times stronger than any man-made magnet, and quadrillions of times more powerful than the field surrounding Earth. At a distance of halfway from earth to the moon, a magnetar could strip information from the magnetic stripes of all credit cards on Earth. A magnetar could even rip the iron right out of your blood cells, affect your nervous system, reshape protons into thin rods and break pretty much every molecular bond.


Apart from those which I have mentioned, some runner ups to this list were:

  1. Rogue planets - a planetary-mass object that orbits the galaxy directly. They have either been ejected from the planetary system in which they formed or have never been gravitationally bound to any star or brown dwarf. They could be a major threat to planets in near by solar systems.
  2. Castor system - is a system of 6 stars orbiting one another! One day these these stars will collide with a release of huge amounts of energy.

But we do. And as far as physicists can tell, it’s only because, in the end, there was one extra matter particle for every billion matter-antimatter pairs. Physicists are hard at work trying to explain this asymmetry.

We currently can only detect the presence of black holes by observing the movement of objects in a specific area. Depending on the path and speed of a group of objects, we can safely assume that a black hole is about to rock them like a hurricane.

Some have been correlated with very distant galaxies, but most correlate with nothing!" Are they exploding black holes or something far weirder? We don't know, but we certainly won't survive to find out if one goes off in our direction from nearby.

6. HYPERNOVA -

Hypernovas result from a supermassive star when it reaches the end of its life and its core collapses directly into a black hole. Energy is released at rapid rates, creating two jets of plasma that move at the speed of light and emit gamma radiation. It is same as the previous figure.

So is it a natural object , a lost rocket or an extraterrestrial probe .. well we have to find out in next encounter.

8. SUN -

Hyper velocity star are travelling so fast they exceed the escape velocity of galaxies. The fastest known hyper velocity star at 1,000 KM per second.

10. DARK FLOW -
