I placed an order with Amazon worth 6999/- on 5/11/2016 and payment done via ICICI debit card.
For some reason, they are unable to deliver the product and it was returned to the seller on 18/11/2016.
They initiated the refund on 21/11/2016 and said it will be credited in 3–5 business days. It is 29/11/2016 and I don’t see any refund in my bank account.
After a Google Search, I found numerous complaints regarding refund getting delayed. Sometimes, it takes around a month to get refund.
I contacted ICICI bank and they say “We didn’t get any information from Amazon”. I contacted Amazon and asked for transaction id of the refund. They said that I will get an e-mail with Transaction id of the refund. But I didn’t get it till now.
An international e-commerce firm can’t even refund the money in 5 days to the bank account. Very cheap and disgusting behavior from Amazon.
My friend ordered a back cover from Flipkart and returned it twice. He got the refund in less than 1 business bay.
Amazon should learn from Flipkart

To get refunds for seller fulfilled orders, initiate the returns process through amazon's Returns Support Centre. Remember that the items have to be returned to the sellers, not Amazon.in.
In any case where a refund is required, the sellers need to authorise that refund. Amazon.in can assist in facilitating refunds for you only when the seller notifies us of the receipt of the item. Once the seller notifies us of the receipt of the return item, the following timelines apply for the amount to be credited.

- Find the order you want to return, and click Return an item from this order. If you don't see the order you're looking for, select another option from the See more menu, and then click Go.
- Select items you want to return.
- Select an option from the Reason for return menu. You can add any additional information in the Comments box.
- Click Submit for Approval.
Once you click on "Submit for Approval",you will see one of the four following options:
- You will see a return confirmation asking you to schedule a return pickup. You will simply need to specify the date and time of pickup
- You will immediately receive an e-mail with the return label and instructions on how to return your item. You can either print and paste the return label on your package or you can write the seller's return address and Return Authorization Number on a piece of paper and paste it onto the return package.
- Your request will be forwarded to the seller. After the seller reviews your return request, you will see a return confirmation asking you to schedule a return pickup. You will simply need to specify the date and time of pickup

There are few modes of payment and accordingly the refund modes .
- Payment done via online -
Paymets via Debit card/credit card/ net banking - refund to same account ( 7–8 days standard tat ) payment goes via various gateways and generally takes 2–3 days however it may happen within 24hr may take 8 days but not beyond that
2. Payment done via cash.
Refund mode is NEFT / Imps ( standard tat 5–6 days)
Refund may happen within 24hrs or can take 5 days not beyond that . Also depends upon few factors like if the bank does not support imps mode then it takes little longer
3. Payed via gift card- amount gets reinstated to same card
Generally takes 24hrs to 48 hrs ( standard tat)
4. Amazon pay account mode - to same account.
Takes generally 24 hrs and you may get refund at the same time when your pickup gets confirmed

As Amazon didn't fulfill the item the seller should be able to refund you and as you informed it's been 14 days the best thing to do is contacting Amazon customer service.

My experience has been that accounts are settled within a business week, but I always use a credit card. Recently I received a defective product, and got a replacement within 2–3 days of my complaint, based on my promise to return the defective unit by UPS on a prepaid label within 30 days. I also got an inexpensive product that got somewhat damaged in shipment, a plastic bottle of liquid that stayed sealed but got squashed enough to make it leak 10% of the liquid. Amazon refunded the full amount of the order on my credit card without requiring return, within a week. I think they do pretty well in this department.
